  • About This Work
STORY is a timepiece that visualizes the passage of time through a levitating sphere that orbits its wooden base.
STORY's magnetic sphere levitates horizontally or at a 60-degree angle (with the included stand) on a table top, or vertically when wall-mounted.

STORY is a timepiece that visualizes the passage of time through a levitating sphere that orbits its wooden base. You determine the time period for one orbit: whether a traditional clock, event countdown, or timer. STORY offers a way to view time between hours, days or life’s events. The story of our planet revolving around the sun is told in a frame of time, but our perception of time can differ from person-to-person based on anticipated moments and subjective experience.

    THE MOVEMENT
An intricate dance of magnetic fields guides the chrome sphere while it moves around its orbit. Set a future date, and STORY will travel one full orbit until you reach your destination. There are three modes of operation: Journey mode allows you to create your own personal timeline based on an upcoming date, event, or season; In Clock mode, the position of the chrome sphere represents the traditional hour hand during its 12-hour orbit; Timer mode counts down shorter increments.

    THE BODY
With its minimalist exterior, at first glance STORY is simply a mysteriously levitating chrome sphere and round wooden base. The electronic and electromagnetic complexities are hidden inside the clock body. STORY can be displayed wall-mounted or tabletop—either horizontally or at a 60-degree angle. There is an LED matrix that can be toggled on or off to digitally display the current time through the wood’s surface. There is also a backlit display that can be manually set or reflect real-time meteorological data, such as moon phases.

    THE APP
STORY’s Android and iOS apps allow you to set the time mode, adjust orbit intervals, set the LED matrix digital display, and activate the backlit color and functionality.
