Humans Since 1982 launched A million Times (AmT), their largest typographic timekeeping design, in 2013. Growing the scale and scope of the Clock Clock series, the A million Times collection expands the number of kinetic components, creating an immersive viewing experience born from the sophisticated choreography of moving clock hands. Each version is named after the number of two-handed, analogue clocks mounted on its artisanally crafted panels.

Large-Scale Commissions
The largest limited edition model is AmT 288, which features 288 clocks powered by 576 motors and mounted on a 73.8 x 136 inch black or white stone-like mineral composite. However, their 2018 commission for Singapore’s Changi Airport is Humans Since 1982’s largest A million Times to date, featuring 504 clocks it is one of the largest kinetic artworks in the world. For the tallest installation to date, Moncler commissioned a custom A million Times artwork for their Milan flagship store consisting of a bespoke metal frame measuring 23 feet high containing an AmT 61c and AmT 200V works.
Bespoke Components
A million Times artworks are programmed with up to 30,000 messages guiding the clock arms through 21 choreographies in a kinetic symphony of arcs and lines reminiscent of airstream maps, waves, and abstracted foliage. Each minute, selected lines are arranged into digital clock style numbers that display the time. For Humans Since 1982, this tension between utility and creativity is central to their ethos; the kinetic sculptures liberate the clocks to live another existence inbetween its dutiful displays of the current time. The work is built on proprietary technology—both software and hardware—which a team of in-house designers, engineers, and programmers has continuously developed since its inception. The objects are meticulously manufactured at the studio in Stockholm, Sweden.
Exhibitions & Collections
Works from the A million Times collection have been exhibited internationally at numerous art fairs, galleries and museums—including the Smithsonian Museum, San Francisco Museum of Art and Design, Design Miami/Basel, PAD London, Salon Art + Design (NYC), NOMAD (St. Moritz), Triennale Design Museum (Milan), Vitra Design Museum (Weil am Rhein), MUDAM Contemporary Art Museum of Luxembourg—and are in public collections such as Platform-L Contemporary Art Center, Seoul, South Korea; Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta; and the Collection of the City of San José Public Art Program in the U.S.
